Welcome to Bodenhausen Stud
Bodenhausen Stud was established 35 years ago and is one of
the oldest Warmblood studs in existence in Southern Africa.

In 1969 Cord – Hinnerk Cordes immigrated to Namibia from Verden,
Germany. He brought with him 3 Hanoverian mares and one Hanoverian
Stallion. With the addition of 10 Thoroughbred mares, the Hanoverian
foundation was established. Since then another 8 Hanoverian
stallions have been imported.
Until 1993 the Bodenhausen Stud was registered in Hanover and used
the Hanoverian brand. In 1993 Bodenhausen became a member of the
Namibian Warmblood Horse Society and now make use of their own stud
brand.
Today the stud consists of 120 horses, of which 40 are brood mares.
Over the years a sound stud of homogenous brood mares has developed.
Bodenhausen is located 80 km's East of Windhoek in Namibia. The farm
is 8500 hectare and the horses mature in the wild. They are not given
any supplementary feeding and only under exceptional conditions do
they
come to the stables, this guarantees robust, slow developing
and healthy horses.
Cord Cordes, son of late Cord-Hinnerk Cordes, and his wife Lona took
over the stud in 1996.
